ABOUT THIS JOB

The

Ecommerce Sourcing Specialist

is responsible for identifying, evaluating, sourcing, and managing products and suppliers to ensure the efficient procurement of products. The role requires a combination of strategic sourcing, vendor relationship management, and data-driven decision-making to support inventory management and drive profitability in the ecommerce space. This position plays a key role in optimizing the supply chain, improving product quality, product variety and maintaining cost-effectiveness in an ever-changing digital marketplace. This role involves identifying trending, new and existing products, managing the sourcing process, negotiating prices and terms, ensuring quality control, and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Supplier Sourcing & Vendor Management

  1. Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers for a wide range of products sold on the ecommerce platform.
  1. Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with new and existing vendors.
  1. Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers to ensure competitive pricing, timely delivery, and adherence to quality standards.

Market Research & Trend Analysis

  1. Conduct ongoing market research to stay ahead of industry trends, competitor pricing, and emerging products.
  1. Evaluate product demand, sales performance, and customer feedback to identify sourcing opportunities.

Inventory & Order Management

  1. Forecast demand and proactively manage product availability, minimizing stockouts or overstock situations.
  1. Track and monitor order fulfillment timelines to ensure timely delivery to customers.

Cost Management & Budgeting

  1. Analyze costs associated with product sourcing and propose cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
  1. Develop and manage sourcing budgets, ensuring adherence to financial targets.

Quality Assurance & Compliance

  1. Ensure that sourced products meet quality standards and comply with regulatory requirements.
  1. Conduct quality control checks, address product defects, and ensure timely returns or replacements when necessary.

Collaboration & Cross-Functional Support

  1. Work closely with marketing, product fulfillment, and sales teams to align sourcing strategies with business objectives.
  1. Provide regular updates on sourcing performance, including cost savings, inventory levels, and supplier performance.

Data Analysis & Reporting

  1. Utilize analytics tools to track sourcing performance, product margins, and sales trends.
  1. Prepare detailed reports on sourcing activities, product trends, and supplier performance for management.

Process Optimization

  1. Identify inefficiencies in the sourcing and procurement process and implement improvements.
  1. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of sourcing tools and ecommerce platforms to enhance workflow automation and sourcing strategies.

  2. Requirements

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  1. Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Marketing, or a related field or 1-2 years of experience in Ecommerce, Marketing, and/or Supply Chain Management
  1. Exceptional attention to detail, specifically in contract management and product quality assurance
  1. Proficiency in sourcing tools, inventory management systems, and ecommerce platforms (e.g., Shopify, Amazon Seller Central, NetSuite, Square)
  1. Strong ability to analyze data, identify trends, and formulate data-driven decisions
  1. Excellent negotiation skills with a proven track record of securing favorable terms and pricing from suppliers
  1. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for managing vendor relationships and collaborating across departments
  1. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and/or Google Suite (Google Docs, Slides, Sheets)

SCHEDULE

  1. Monday to Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm (Full-time)

TRAINING

Training for this position will be completed by the department manager. Training will consist of education on key processes, preparation and staging requirements by customer, location of tools, supplies and materials. You will be trained on how to use the order interface, how to properly read orders and where to look for notes. Additional training will be completed as processes evolve or as required. 

SAFETY
